3. Emails

We send emails needed to run your account, such as sign-in codes and important changes to our terms. We will only send newsletters, reports or product news if you have opted in, and every such email will let you unsubscribe.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We use these providers to run the service, and they process data on our instructions:

  • Clerk (sign-in and account management), United States.
  • Cloudflare (our user database and network services), global.
  • Vercel (website hosting and cookieless visitor statistics), global.
  • Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.

We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights and users.

5. Transfers outside the UK

Some providers store or process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK–US data bridge (Clerk is certified under it) or by the UK's approved contract terms for international transfers.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account data: for as long as you have an account.
  • When you delete your account, we delete your personal details from our systems within 30 days. We keep a minimal record that an account existed and its level history, without your email, for our records and to prevent abuse.
  • Security logs: for a limited period, then deleted.

7. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect sign-in (set by Clerk). They are strictly necessary, so we do not ask for consent to them. Our visitor statistics do not use cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. Email hello@tapelab.io and we will respond within one month. You can delete your account yourself from your account menu.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). We would appreciate the chance to fix it first.

9. Age

Tapelab is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.

10. Changes

We will update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes. The version and date at the top show the latest one, and we will tell signed-in users about significant changes.
